wind :
-to dry the chore jeans and splash pants that fill the clothesline
-to fluff up the matted leaves and stir the grasses to life
-to make tiny twisters that excite the lamb to frisk and hop
-happy air currents making a kite dance for hours after we tie its string to the shed door
fire:
-to burn the piles of trash we gather and diminish the pile of tree prunings to ash
-large brush piles reduced to a warm glow by nightfall
-hot bed of coals to fry and sizzle a coil of sausage
-a merry light to sit around as we all make our way to the house at days end
-spinning a perfectly toasted marshmallow to life in sweet laziness
water:
-last snow pile slowly seeping away in a trickle by the driveway
-pumping out the pool before re-lining it and making a waterway that streams by the calf pen where they come to sniff it and try it for a drink
-re-filling dog waterers and calf waterers in the heat of the day
-chortling of frogs coming from the small pond day and night, one large bass bullfrog voice coming from our swimming pool area as I rake away leaves
-fertilizing small peppers and tomato plants with the compost tea I made
-a jar of honey sweetened sun tea for the humans too. Hydrate!
