Get Busy Loving

When we die the only thing that’s left is our spiritual part. All the ways our spirit connected and impacted others lives, good or bad, is left everywhere and all over still impacting others stories. The physical part is here and then suddenly it’s gone and all the material items left behind don’t mean anything without the person’s spirit infusing life into them.

We might be really talented at one craft but after death the tools sit unused when the hands are still. My Grandma’s breadboard is special but it was the most special when it sat by her toaster with a slice of her home baked bread being buttered on it. Now all that’s left is a flash of her and the way she stood and buttered toast in the memory but even that thought of her energy can inspire my homemaking.

The creative moments and tangible arts we leave live on through human connections. Human interactions and relationships are heavenly and eternal, especially the moments we repaired the bad and how we continued with the good. It’s not the big Hallmark family movie moments either but it’s just those little everyday touches of shoulder to shoulder moments. That laugh we shared when we spilled our drinks or how someone got angry and in the middle of a shouting match we rediscovered open communication . Maybe it’s just remembering someone’s posture or energy when they were passionate about their work.    The worst thing I feel I can leave behind with others isn’t my messes and failures but it’s the cool distrust and broken distance between spirits. Raw honesty and continual acceptance is how we love each other home. While our physical breaks down we can still be present and build up the spiritual. “Get busy living or get busy dying,” an old quote goes.

I’d like to say, “Get busy loving.” Love life, love people, and love yourself as praise to your Creator.
